What is the name of the domain?
What is the issue you’re encountering
Repeated HTTP 520 responses from api.openai.com interrupt coding sessions and automatic context summarization in Pi coding agent 1.2.0, running in a Linux development container. I use Pi’s openai provider with ChatGPT OAuth and the Responses API. Affected models include gpt-6-astra and gpt-6-luna. Failures occurred on October 13 and 15, 2026. Latest example: Ray ID: a4aefa97fddf4b16 Timestamp: 2026-10-15T12:55:34Z I am an API user, not the domain owner. I cannot access the origin logs or Cloudflare configuration.
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Retried requests across multiple sessions and OpenAI models. Configured three retries at 60-second intervals and verified the settings with Pi’s settings loader, although the affected running process may not have reloaded them.
Fixed a separate local routing-extension bug that repeatedly returned to the failing provider. Another provider (xAI) successfully handled fallback requests.

Was the site working with SSL prior to adding it to Cloudflare?
No
What is the current SSL/TLS setting?
Strict (SSL-Only Origin Pull)
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
- Run Pi coding agent 1.2.0 in a Linux development container.
- Authenticate the openai provider using ChatGPT OAuth.
- Select gpt-6-astra or gpt-6-luna.
- Send a coding request or continue an existing coding session.
- Observe an HTTP 520 response identifying api.openai.com and unknown_origin_error. Automatic context summarization has also failed with this response.
This describes the affected workflow; I have not established a deterministic minimal reproduction.
