Www works, root doesn't open Google sites webpage DNS

Problem:
https://www.rocket.supplies works
https://rocket.supplies results in error: There was a problem loading this website

Setup:
Google Sites webpage (NOT Shopify, that was last month)

Cloudflare registered domain and DNS
CNAME for WWW → ghs.googlehosted.com
A for @ (root) set to 8.8.8.8 and Proxy turned on

Page Rule setup:
rocket.supplies/*
Forwarding URL (Status Code: 301 - Permanent Redirect, Url: https://www.rocket.supplies)

NSLookup.IO shows a Shopify IP (172.67.164.243) in the A records

Why is there a Shopify IP setup for the root?

Any suggestions on how to fix https://rocket.supplies ?

That is not a Shopify IP. It is a Cloudflare IP. It appears because you have the DNS record set to proxy. If you have used Shopify in the past, it is quite common that they do not remove your domain from their Cloudflare account after you discontinue their service. If you click on the word Shopify where it is linked, you will see a Community #tutorial that explains how to fix it. Currently using Liberate The Hostname provides the fastest results.
