I have followed these instructions (Option A) to the letter but all it has done is crashed my site. Please help.

It sounds like the SSL certificate hasn’t been issued yet. On the SSL/TLS page, what is the Status? It should look positive:

It’s usually pretty quick, and I see it’s been at least five hours for you.
When it’s not working for me, I go to the bottom of the SSL/TLS screen and click “Disable Universal SSL” and wait ten minutes, then click that button again to Enable SSL. That resets the process and usually works. If not, and it’s been 24 hours, open a Support Ticket:
Login to Cloudflare and then contact Cloudflare Support by clicking on the Get More Help button.
