Wordpress This site can’t be reached - DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN

We have opened a new Cloudflare account on behalf of our client.

The objective is to increase page speed and page load times to improve web performance, user experience and engagement with the site. The website is built on Wordpress using Wordpress . c com hosting, utilising the Divi page builder. We’re seeing poor page load times (up to 6-8 sec), we have applied various plugins like WP-Rocket and Imagify to compress images/code (which has helped), but we wish to speed the site up further deploying Cloudflare’s CDN (the objective is sub 2 sec fully loaded). As soon as we update DNS name server records in 123-Reg (from Wordpress to Cloudflare) the website incurs downtime. Can anyone please offer support so we can troubleshoot and fix this, to enable Cloudflare to work?

I suspect this is something simple here that just needs a minor adjustment in Cloudflare/Wordpress/123-Reg.

We’ve ran two tests so far - both unsuccessful, both incurring website downtime. We’ve had to switch nameservers back to Wordpress as the site again was down overnight for over 12 hours. We saw an error in the browser this time “This site can’t be reached - DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN”, still no site live when switching to Cloudflare nameservers. Please can someone advise? Do we require further input from Wordpress or 123-Reg or Cloudflare to get Cloudflare working?

Has the site been successfully added to Cloudflare? That is, did the site get past the “pending verification” stage?

Have you set the correct DNS records in the Cloudflare DNS before moving?

If enabled, have you disabled DNSSEC at the registrar before moving?

Make sure SSL/TLS is set to “Full (strict)” here…

Otherwise, set the nameservers back to Cloudflare and if you can give the domain name then people can take a look.
