If you want plugin recommendations, your best bet is to read the reviews at wordpress.org/plugins
As for why you’re getting Mixed Content errors, WordPress should be configured for HTTPS so that won’t happen on new posts.
You can also add the following line to .htaccess:
Header always set Content-Security-Policy: upgrade-insecure-requests
