WordPress dashboard access super slow since enabling Cloudflare

Hi everyone,
Hope you are all staying well and healthy.

I setup the Cloudflare account for my client this last weekend. I wanted to make several changes to the website (live) but have had endless issues trying to access various pages in the Wordpress dashboard. I have had 3 long support chats with my hosting company (Hostgator) but still don’t have a solution. They told me to talk to Cloudflare.

For instance, I’m trying to add a new plugin to test it and when I search for the plugin it starts the search but never finds the plugin in the WordPress repository. It stays like that for ages.

The one time I received the Error 524 - a timeout occurred.

A second time, I was trying to update a page and it caused a fatal crash and WordPress sent an email detailing the cause. Let me know if I should paste the contents here please.

Please assist as I can’t make the one update to the Contact Us page and currently the live site is sitting without an email form which is not great.

What details did it show?

I really don’t know why Hostgator pushes clients off to Cloudflare for their frequent problems.

There are some 404 errors for some @2x images, but that’s not unheard of. The main page is a little slow, but it could just hosted far away from me.

If there’s a fatal crash, Hostgator should be able to figure that one out. They’re the only ones who have any insight into your site’s performance.
