Wordpress admin page not accessible after changing site URL to https

Hi, too many redirects for the backend of WP after I change the setting for the URL from http to https. Front of house looks fine.

If you follow the link in your post, you will find the Community #tutorial that explains how you can fix your problem. If you are using Flexible SSL mode, you should switch to Full (Strict). Anything else is insecure.

Hi, I have tried but that go straight to 525 error -Cloudflare is unable to establish an SSL connection to the origin server.

Well, that is a step in the right direction. Now you need to secure your server with a signed SSL certificate for your domain. You can get a free certificate from Letsencrypt (which needs to be updated every 90 days) or you could install a Cloudflare Origin Certificate (which only works when Cloudflare proxy is enabled).

After that, your site should work again.

Hi, thanks Laudian. Not sure if I can with Ionos(previous
1and1) hosting. Try to find a way to avoid buying their certificates. Any workaround? Thanks

User-Managed SSL Certificates - IONOS Help lists tutorials to install certificates for different kinds of hosting.

It looks like they would work with certificates not bought from Ionos.

Been through the settings, as I’m using share hosting, I don’t think there are options to install a self signed SSL cert. Think a few user had the same issue when their hosting provider is with Ionos. Any other workarounds such as installing some plugin on WP?
