Or networks have all outbounds ports allowed.

Install latest Cloudflare Warp client
Connects fine
Login via Cloudflare zero trust account
Connection no longer possible

Found it, should be really better documented:

a default DNS location needs to be setup in Cloudflare Zero:

Gateway > DNS Locations` , create a new location, and choose to set it as the default
