Why points DNS to cloudflare, when only service needed doesn't require domain?

I like the load balancer you guys offer, but I don’t understand why you need to register a domain with you guys to use one.

Isn’t the point of a load balancer to balance traffic outside a domain, and THEN send traffic to a domain? Why do I need to point a domain to you guys if that domain isn’t needed for the service I need?

Thanks!

Load balancers are admittedly server-based, but as it’s tied into Cloudflare, you’d need to connect your domain to Cloudflare. It sounds like Cloudflare’s load balancing isn’t the solution for you.

Sounds good. But could you explain to me how you would add a domain into cloudflare, and use a load balance on that domain? I can’t think of a scenario that would work.

Thanks!

 @webadmin,

Have the opposite challenge here, unclear how it would work otherwise. What are you trying to achieve.
