Why “.net.gh” is not a valid TLD

What is the name of the domain?

compator.net.gh

What is the error message?

Please ensure you are providing the root domain and not any subdomains (e.g., example.com, not subdomain.example.com)

What is the issue you’re encountering

Cannot add a new domain with .net.gh extension

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

When I try to add a new domain compator.net.gh I get the error “ Please ensure you are providing the root domain and not any subdomains (e.g., example.com, not subdomain.example.com)”. I’m able to add compator.com.gh and compator.org.gh but not compator.net.gh

Cloudflare AI bot gave me the following response:

The issue you’re experiencing is likely due to the fact that “.net.gh” is not a valid top-level domain (TLD) according to the Public Suffix List (PSL). The PSL is a list of all valid TLDs, and Cloudflare uses this list to determine whether a domain is valid.

In your case, “.gh” is a valid country-code TLD (ccTLD) for Ghana, but “.net.gh” is not a valid TLD. This is why you’re able to add “compator.com.gh” and “compator.org.gh”, but not “compator.net.gh”.

To resolve this issue, you can try adding the domain as a subdomain of a valid TLD. For example, you could add “net.gh” as a subdomain of “compator.com.gh”. However, this may not be the desired solution, as it would change the domain name.

Alternatively, you can contact Cloudflare support and provide them with more information about your domain and the error you’re experiencing. They may be able to assist you in resolving the issue or provide more information about why “.net.gh” is not a valid TLD.

The AI bot was pretty spot on in this instance. net.gh is not listed in the public suffix list https://publicsuffix.org/list/public_suffix_list.dat The operator of the TLD would need to add that to the list for Cloudflare to recognize it as a TLD.
