Why my Warp+ Colocation change to different continents lately

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

Lately my colocation connected to SJC (USA), I believe usually is connect to SIN or KUL. This problem has been around for almost a month, I use ISP Telkom and colocation in CGK in the last month is Partially Re-routed, any solutions? Thanks.

Can you elaborate on your ISP and location?

  1. What AS number?
The AS number can be found here:
  1. What country (and preferably state/region)?

Where you are being routed to, depends on your ISP’s decisions, including their peering arrangements with Cloudflare, and whether these peering arrangements (if they have such) are done locally or far away.

If your provider from Asia does not want to peer with Cloudflare within Asia, and is only peering with Cloudflare in e.g. North America, then traffic from that ISP will be sent from Asia and to Cloudflare’s PoP in North America.

You can however contact your ISP, and request that they set up a settlement-free peering with Cloudflare within your own country, or at least, somewhere closer than the other continent, if locally within your own country isn’t an option for them.

  1. AS number can be found here:
  • 1.1.1.1
    → 15169
  • bgp.tools
→ PT Telkom Indonesia Tbk (AS7713)
  • bgp.he.net
→ Your ISP is AS7713 (PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia)
  1. What country (and preferably state/region)?
→ Singapore (SIN) Malayasia (JHB)/(KUL) and Indonesia (CGK)/(JOG)

With this one, I would suggest you look in to your network configurations, such as e.g. VPN providers.

AS7713 PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia seems to mainly to be taking the traffic to Singapore, and passing it on to Cloudflare there.

There are however also a couple of examples, where AS7713 PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia is taking traffic to either Hong Kong, or to San Jose, California, United States.

In addition, there are also some traffic, that seems to be over expensive transit links by AS7713 PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia.

The question was meant for what location you’re on, when you see this.

Based on the name of your provider, I would guess Indonesia would have been the correct answer, and not all three of them.

That said, -

Based on the above, I would suggest you contact AS7713 PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia and ask them to check their peerings, and/or establish more settlement-free peerings with Cloudflare, and preferably, locally, within Indonesia.
