Why are all Freenom domains giving an error when trying to add them?

I keep seeing the same generic response pasted in every Freenom-related thread and it doesn’t really seem to make sense. From what I can see, Freenom is correctly responding to whois requests and there’s zero reason those domains shouldn’t be able to be added at this time.

For example, a user posted yesterday that they couldn’t add lifestealrealm.ml due to the error.

But Freenom’s whois is responding to it:

whois lifestealrealm.ml

You can also dig the nameservers:

dig +short ns lifestealrealm.ml

As well as a valid SOA:

dig +short soa lifestealrealm.ml

g.ns.arvancdn.co. hostmaster.arvancloud.com. 1636231999 86400 7200 604800 7200.

Running a trace works properly on https://www.digwebinterface.com/ too.

In fact, you can even enter that domain on CF’s Diagnostic Center here:
Diagnostic Center | Check SSL and Test Website Security | Cloudflare

Even there it’s able to find the nameservers because it gives the non_cloudflare_nameservers error instead of showing no_nameservers like it does when NS don’t exist.

I’ve tried this across multiple domains, with and without valid nameservers as well as ones with different or non-existent SOA and A records. None of them can be added to Cloudflare.

Can someone clarify why Cloudflare thinks this is an issue with Freenom’s whois?
