I am using GTMetrix to analyze our website, the report is at Archived Performance Report for: https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/ | GTmetrix
I find a strange thing. It takes 221 ms to load the 1.32k favicon.png. But takes only takes only 26ms to load 1.61k logo.png, see below:
Both logo.png and favicon.png are cached by Cloudflare.
I have made many tests and always get similar results, for example, this is another report: Latest Performance Report for: https://www.datanumen.com/outlook-repair/ | GTmetrix
Today I just try to see if hosting images on Cloudflare images will improve the image load speed.
I make two very simple pages:
- Test page 1: contain an image hosted on our own server(US, LA)
- Test page 2: contain an image hosted on Cloudflare(Imagedelivery.net)
I use GTMetrix to test from Sydney, Australia.
For Test page 1, even if the image is miss, its load time is only 246ms, see below:
For Test page 2, if the image is miss, the load time is 2.5s, see below:
So, in such a case, why should I use Cloudflare Images since it performs worse than my own server?
