I registered fragilistic.ai and supercalifragilistic.ai with Cloudflare, and my dashboard showed that WHOIS privacy was enabled from the start. However, I later discovered that my home address, email and phone number was visible on WHOIS lookup sites (DomainTools, Who.is) before it was redacted. ICANN shows up as redacted. I have got over a 100+ calls and more emails since I joined cloudflare! Since free plan users don’t have direct Cloudflare support, I’d appreciate any insights/help from the community.
Registrar issues require a Registrar ticket with Support
I am not sure I understand. Cloudflare (RDAP) confirmed that my information was redacted. ICANN’s whois is and was always redacted. However, Who.is and DomainTools (not sure who else) get there information from somewhere (I’m looking at Cloudflare here). That said, if it is true that .ai domains are not protected - I am not it is reasonable for Cloudflare to expect users to know of such exceptions when charging for registration and offering it as part of the package.
I agree with you here, CF should be more clear and warn the users that whois protection isn’t available with .ai domains. Other extensions tend to have it by default, however, .ai seems to be an exception.
Is there a way to get confirmation from CF on this? My company may want to acquire more domains in the near future but this trial run on CF is so far a disaster. Unlike a system outage, My private information can not be recovered and the fact that I cannot get assistance directly (no response to tickets) from them on a privacy issue go against the great things I have been hearing about CF…
