I can’t enable WHOS Privacy. It says “Data redaction is currently disabled for this domain.”
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
Yesterday I transferred the domain from GoDaddy. It took a while to verify it, but finally I have an access to configure it. When I tried to turn on “WHOIS Privacy” I’m informed “Data redaction is currently disabled for this domain.” Additionally it says: “You have unverified Contacts. View Contacts”. On the page of “Contacts” at the bottom I can see:
“WHOIS No WHOIS information is currently available.”
I edited my contact information, I saved it, but it didn’t change anything.
Additionally I cannot “Turn ON” autorenew option as well as “Expires on” is empty.
What feature, service or problem is this related to?
The domain belongs to my friend, who was mentioned in the WHOIS before. Now, when I transferred it, the WHOIS is automatically populated with my information.
Could it be causing problems?
Might be a temporary dashboard UI issue following the expedited transfer.
In any case, a WHOIS lookup shows contact info is redacted. You can look up the domain here https://rdap.cloudflare.com/ or use your favorite WHOIS lookup tool to confirm.
Yes, I was able to confirm with whois sc4wdc.com the same: details are redacted (which is good )
However, it seems like there is something more happening here. I cannot setup autorenewale - I can trigger the switch, but it doesn’t persist. I’m wondering if that’s connected.
I just got email confirming that the transfer of the domain has completed.
I don’t see any problems anymore, WHOIS is “enabled”, auto-renewal is “ON” and the domain is “LOCKED”.
It took 2 days to make it happen, but I can confirm it was just a “waiting game”.
