What is local CF node used for?

I’m located closer, physically to CCU, yet BOM is used for CDNs, the speed test or the 1.1.1.1 resolver.

So my question is this: what is the local node used for that affects a customer like me?

Looks like your ISP is not peered/conencted to Cloudflare’s CCU colo.

Try tracerouting to 1.1.1.1.

Here’s a trace:

Cloudflare doesn’t use all the locations or the locations with high bandwidth pricing to deliver content for sites using the Free plan. Most of the time, content of such websites is delivered through few locations, or locations with more economical bandwidth pricing, or it’s priority based. Maybe, the sites you’re trying to access don’t have access to multiple or premium Cloudflare PoPs in India. You don’t always get content from the closest Cloudflare PoP.
