The image under the “The 8 steps in a DNS lookup:” section of the “What is DNS?” learning page has a slight issue. The arrows for steps 6 and 7 seem to have the opposite direction than they should. Here are the relevant steps listed in that section:
6. Lastly, the recursive resolver sends a query to the domain’s nameserver.
7. The IP address for example.com is then returned to the resolver from the nameserver.
The arrows have step 6 directed from the nameserver to the resolver and step 7 directed from the resolver to the nameserver. This contradicts the text above it. It might be a small issue, but a friend and I were studying up on these subjects and the diagram had us confused for a little while until we scrutinized over the DNS lookup process.
