What are User API Tokens used for?

I see that I have 50 User API Tokens created, and they are all identical:

This API token will affect the below accounts and zones, along with their respective permissions
|__ All zones - Zone Settings:Edit, SSL and Certificates:Edit, Cache Purge:Purge, Page Rules:Edit, DNS:Edit

Am I correct in understanding that one token would cover all zones, making the other 49 redundant and unnecessary?

Before creating a token, you would need to find your zone and account IDs

When creating the API token, you will be able to select permissions group (Account, User, or Zone), choose what level of access to grant the token. Most groups offer Edit or Read options.
