Websites are not working with the old IP and the new one

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

Sometimes works with the IP and sometimes not

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Hi.

Some days ago, I sent a message to support about some websites that weren’t opening with the main IP; however, we fixed the problem by creating a new server and changing the IP to another one.

But it wasn’t enough. Some website with the new IP started to show the same problem and it’s weird because it’s not all the websites that are using the old IP has a problem, it’s just a specific ones.

We realized that some domains with the old IP (and now with the new one) can’t load the archives below, and that makes the website crash or just not load all the content when a user tries to access.

This domain I use to test and for some reason it started to work again, but I’m using as example to give you an example about what happens.

We’ve checked the DNS, the code and everything is right. I’m sending you two screenshots, 1 is about the error on the network on Google Chrome and 2 is about the website that I try to click on the research button and the error message from Cloudflare shows up or sometimes nothing happens.

Do you guys know what that means? Because we have no idea what to do now.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

DNS records

Hello, the 404 Not Found status code indicates that the origin server was unable to locate the requested resource. Typically, this means the host server could not find the resource. For a more permanent version of this error, the 410 Gone status code should be used.

For more details, refer to RFC 7231 :up_right_arrow:.

Common use cases

These errors typically occur when someone mistypes a URL on your site, when there is a broken link from another page, when a page that previously existed is moved or removed, or there is an error when a search engine indexes your site.

These errors typically account for approximately 3% of total page views for a typical site. However, they often go untracked by traditional analytics platforms, such as Google Analytics. To improve user experience, website owners usually implement a custom 404 page to be displayed when this error is generated.

Cloudflare-specific information

Cloudflare does not generate 404s for customer websites, we only proxy the request from the origin server. If you encounter a 404 error on a Cloudflare-powered site, the issue lies with the origin server. In such cases, contact your hosting provider for assistance.
