What is the name of the domain?

What is the error message?

SSL Handshake Fail - was a redirect error

What is the issue you’re encountering

SSL Handshake error - no access to site for a week. I don’t know if I have the right SSL certificate and nobody else seems to know either

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

My website has been offline for a week - there is now a SSL handshake error. My website was made with Wordpress. I thought the SSL certificate was working and all was well- my site said https.I went into Wordpress to update because I have a new songbook that was supposed to come out last week. It wouldn’t update because of a JSON error. Upon investigation, I changed some setting in Wordpress to Https (it was still at Http). That gave me a redirect error and I was unable to even get into WordPress. Now I"m talking with an IT friend and I changed my SSL setting to Full (strict) which gave me a SSL Handshake failure, which I considered progress. That was supposed to clear up in a day or so. I then discovered that, despite being told by Cloudflare that the certificate would install to my server on its own, I still had to do it manually as the settings on my provider’s server says there’s no certificate. I finally figured out where the certificates were in Cloudflare. I thought I was supposed to use an Origin certificate and it defaults to PEM. However, every time I try to copy the code into the server it says there’s a problem with the certificate or the key. I have been talking with the DNS admin for my provider but they can’t give any information. How am I supposed to figure out what kind of SSL certificate I am supposed to use? Who is supposed to know this? I just checked and I have a Universal SSL certificate when I signed up apparently and I was looking for the code to install into my server but there’s nothing there. What am I doing wrong and who is supposed to know what I need?

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

Start by pausing Cloudflare. Once your site is working properly over HTTPS while Cloudflare is paused, you can re-enable Cloudflare.

Thank you for the info and the documentation! Good to know! Now, I’m back to the “Secure Connection Failed” error that was likely reported earlier. I think that’s progress? We’ll see where it goes from here.
