Website file is disappeared

Hi,
In the last couple of months, the DNS of the website was managed by Cloudflare. Since 13 April 2021, the website files keep disappearing even restored the oldest backups multiple times. It looks like someone or something deleting all site’s content and setting the default WordPress page.

We don’t get any errors but we receive an email that the site is set up and the admin password is changed. This email was received first on 17 April. The site’s content is anonymously deleted and WordPress setting up the default theme. Since the DNS is managed by Cloudflare, hosting company Godaddy refers to Cloudflare.

We checked and updated all the plugins and tested multiple restorations but none of these was helpful.

Any help will be highly appreciated!

Thanks

Hi @services18,

Your WordPress is not hosted by Cloudflare. If GoDaddy continue to blame Cloudflare for the issue, I would recommend pausing Cloudflare, asking them to look into it and once it’s working re-enable Cloudflare.

You can pause Cloudflare from the Overview tab of the Cloudflare Dashboard, bottom right under Advanced Actions.

Hi @domjh ,

Thank you for your response.

We already changed the DNS record back to Godaddy. They also disabled the auto daily backup without letting us know.

A few days ago they said they could recover the missing content from the site, but now they can’t do that neither.

We had a Wordpress backup running daily but it seems restoring the Wordpress backups not resolving the issue.

These are the only error logs that we can find on directory:

public_html/wp-content/plugins/woocommerce/includes/class-wc-cart-totals.php on line 229

Unfortunately we couldn’t find any error occurred between 13 - 17 April.

Greetings

I am afraid, as already stated, that error is related to PHP code of your WordPress / WooCommerce and hosting, not Coudflare.

Install an security plugin.

Maybe some updates running in the background.
