DNS resolution error

What is the issue you’re encountering

Website is down, according to my client, the website is hosted by Cloudflare

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I’ve tried to reach out to Cloudflare Support but it is so abysmal it makes me want to cry.
My clients don’t have the account credentials for Cloudflare, and the DNS was recently moved away form Cloudflare. I don’t know what to do.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Go to lakechap.ca, try to reach Cloudflare Support.

Screenshot of the error

You are using AWS nameservers but pointing at Cloudflare IP addresses (that look like those from a free plan), so the error page is correct in what it says - your domain is not on Cloudflare but your DNS is pointing to Cloudflare.

Who is your web host? If they gave you those IP addresses then they use Cloudflare themselves and may not have set up their end correctly. Otherwise check with your host what DNS records you should use.

Checking securitytrails.com it looks like the nameservers were changed 11 days ago, but the A records have been the same for 3 years. It appears someone just copied the Cloudflare proxy IPs to the new DNS without understanding these were hiding the true host IP address.
