Website Broken after connecting to Bluehost

What is the name of the domain?

https://pollyandthelovebites.com/

What is the issue you’re encountering

My website is broken after having Bluehost support help manually connect me to cloudflare - it was impossible to do (as normal) by simply pushing a button in my Bluehost portal

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

spoke to Bluehost support who told me: As I could see that nameserver is pointng to cloudflare but A record or MX record not pointing anywhewre for this domain name. Due to this email and website is down. You need to contact cloudflare and add there A record from there end

This is way out of my area of expertise, any (simple!) instructions or help would be much appreciated

Currently, your site is experiencing too many redirects error. You need set the SSL to Full Strict from your Cloudflare Dashboard-> SSL/TLS.

Thanks so much for your reply!
You are correct - I actually used chatgpt to adjust my DNS settings (pasting below for anyone with the same problem:)

  • Log in to your Cloudflare account:
  • Go to the DNS section of your domain on Cloudflare.
  • Add A Record:
  • In the DNS settings, look for the option to add an “A Record.”
  • In the “Name” field, enter “@” (this represents your domain name).
  • In the “IPv4 address” field, enter the IP address of your website’s server. You can get this from your Bluehost account under your domain management or hosting section.
  • Click “Save.”
  • Add additional DNS records (optional):
  • If you use email services, you may also need to add the MX records provided by Bluehost. You can find these in your Bluehost account or by contacting their support.
  • Wait for DNS propagation:
  • Once the records are added, it can take a few hours (up to 24 hours) for the changes to propagate, but your website should be back online after that.

I checked back a few hours later and got the redirect message you saw. Exactly as you suggested I took the following steps:
Check SSL/TLS settings in Cloudflare:

  • Log into your Cloudflare dashboard.
  • Go to the SSL/TLS section for your domain.
  • Look at the SSL/TLS mode. It’s likely set to “Full” or “Flexible”. Try setting it to Full (strict) if you have an SSL certificate on your server (which Bluehost typically provides).

My website was back up a few minutes later, thank you so much!
