Currently, the way to view the Rule ID of a Firewall Rule is rather complicated involving using the browser’s developer tools (method documented in this community tutorial: Viewing the Rule ID of a Firewall Rule.
I think it would be really good to have this visible on the rule’s page and searchable. This means that when you see the Rule ID being triggered in the Firewall Events Log, you can find the rule more easily.
It would also be nice to have the Rule ID in the events log as clickable to take you to the page of the rule that was triggered, whether it was a Firewall Rule, Access Rule or WAF Rule.
Thanks @domjh, raised a ticket with the Design and Frontend teams. Let’s see what we can do. We’ve got some other cool tidbits coming to the Firewall Rules list, which should be released later this quarter. I’ll see if we can rap this in.
Yes! It’s a major enhancement. More little bits will appear
Although the rule ID of each firewall rule is not visible on the rule page, the main issue raised in this thread has been resolved. Now, in the events log, as well as the rule ID, the rule name can be viewed which means that users can track down which firewall rule caused the event more easily. The rule ID can still be found via developer tools in the browser if needed.
