Users of my website are facing issues with commenting, experiencing unresponsiveness and slowness at times, especially from 15:00 GMT to 23:00 GMT. We have to refresh the page… and often, refreshing doesn’t help. There’s no response unless I completely close the browser and reopen it, or if I change the IP address. Note that I only encounter these slowdown and freezing issues when using Cloudflare. I’ve tried x4b.net and didn’t face these problems. Most of my site’s visitors are Arabs (Middle East - North Africa), so I want to change the DATA CENTER location from America to an Arab country closer to my users, like (the UAE).
Hi there,
Unfortunately it is difficult to advise without more information here as there is a lot of possibilities of what could be happening here.
You can tell which datacenter your visitors are reaching by getting your visitors to the URL http://<yoursite>/cdn-cgi/trace
The output will show the colo field - this is the airport code of the datacenter your visitor is hitting.
Pleaee note, all Cloudflare edge IP’s geo-locate to US, but that does not mean your clients are being routed the US, with Anycast our edge IP’s are broadcast to all our datacenters - https://www.cloudflare.com/learning/cdn/glossary/anycast-network and based on the fastest network path available to our IP’s it will route to the datacenter closest.
You only see the performance issues when doing a comment, but just browsing to the site functions correctly?
This makes me think there is something going on the server that is preventing the comment from being summited. If there was a network performance issue or something wrong with Cloudflare - then I would think the entire responsiveness of your site would be affected.
During the time of your slowness do you see anything abnormal happening in your Cloudflare Analytics (eg. big increases in traffic) or from your monitoring on your web server do you see any change in CPU/Memory usage?
Have you been able to replicate this problem yourself?
regards,
The problem appears in some countries only and not for all users
I think there is an emerging problem in some countries like Yemen
I have confirmed that my ISP in Yemen, (YemenNet, AS30873), does not implement BGP securely. This can affect the performance of your server and not run perfectly.
During this two-week period, I tested Bunny’s CDN and DNS, and performance was without issue. This confirms that the issue is with Cloudflare.
Please let me know if a solution to this issue is developed so I can go back to using Cloudflare, as it definitely has advantages that other companies generally don’t have. My website is a platform for group and private conversations between users, and requires stability in service along with lightness and excellent performance.
