User Agent Blocking - Best Way

Hello,
Just getting started (Pro Plan) and have a query regarding blocking user agents.

I can see that there is a specific rule section for “User Agent Blocking” but this doesn’t allow regex or wildcards, however blocking user agents can also be done with Firewall Rules and it has the advantage of being able to use “contains” logic which means I can block all “python-requests”.

Is there any disadvantage to using Firewall Rules apart from the fact that I am only limited to 20 rules, that I need to take into account? Like performance?

Thanks

BigJoe

Not really. If you have static strings, simply use the dedicated user agent rules. If you need to check for substrings, use firewall rules.

Hi sandro,

Thanks for clarifying.
