Use different domain in wordpress multisites

Got “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS” or time out while trying to set up my WordPress multi-sites…

My main site is, then the sub-site is added successfully. But when trying to change the Site Address (URL) to, Got “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS” (both & are on Cloudflare with DNS record A pointing to same ip)

Then, I tried to set up Page Rules Forwarding URL to redirect both and to, got ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT for and a blank page for

Any suggestion is highly appreciated. (had installed Cloudflare plugin in my wordpress)

There’s no DNS record for, though it does have a record for ‘www’.

So I’m not seeing a redirect loop.

I had set the DNS record A for to the same ip, but taken out to try redirect.

just added back, but still the same problem.

Hi @sdayman

Maybe I did not express the actions I had taken clear enough, there are 2 methods I tried to solve the problem.

The first method is to add the as Site Address (URL) for my WordPress multi-sites. But it got “ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS”

So I changed the setting to use Page Rules Forwarding URL, (taken out the DNS record A for, but got ERR_CONNECTION_TIMED_OUT for and a blank page for

Should I set up back to the first method?

Multisite only has two options:

If your Multisite was installed as mubie, it should stay mubie, unless you want to switch the whole thing over to architdz. And that’s not going to be fun.

None of this has anything to do with Cloudflare, except that you’re using Cloudflare DNS. A forwarding Page Rule just saves the user from typing some other URL into their Browser. But that other URL has to actually work. Yours doesn’t, for varying reasons.

Hi @sdayman

Thanks for your quick reply.

There are 3 Scenarios to Configure WordPress Multisite

you can have different domains in scenario 2 & 3, that what I’m trying to do.

do you see a chance to arrange DNS setting on Cloudflare in that way?

That doesn’t align with WordPress’ own documentation regarding Multisite. And I don’t see how they magically got from a space-is-awesome subdomain to it being its own domain. I suggest you contact Bitnami regarding this setup. Again, Cloudflare is just providing DNS for this setup. It needs to work regardless of Cloudflare.

just for your reference…WordPress natively supports the mapping functionality since version 4.5. That’s why you can configure different domains without needing any extra plugin.
