Urgent Assistance Required: DNS Zone Conflict Preventing Domain Use

I am reaching out to express my significant concern and seek urgent assistance regarding an issue that is critically affecting the use of my domain, michaelandreuzza.com. Recently, during the process of integrating my domain with Netlify, I encountered a major hurdle. Upon attempting to add my domain to the Netlify dashboard, I was confronted with an error indicating that “A DNS zone for this domain already exists on NS1.”

This unexpected error stems from an earlier test involving Cloudflare. In an effort to optimize my website’s performance and security, I had previously added my domain to the Cloudflare dashboard. It appears that this action has inadvertently resulted in the creation of a DNS zone on NS1, which is now preventing me from successfully integrating my domain with Netlify.

To address this issue, I promptly reached out to NS1, opening a ticket with them 10 days ago. Unfortunately, I have yet to receive a response. Similarly, I have also opened an urgent ticket with Cloudflare, but it has been a week without any contact from their side. The lack of communication and resolution is extremely frustrating, as it leaves me in a state of limbo, unable to use my domain as intended.

The importance of resolving this matter swiftly cannot be overstated. My website’s functionality and the services I offer are directly impacted by this ongoing issue. I urgently request the assistance of the Cloudflare community and the support team to guide me through the necessary steps to resolve this conflict between Cloudflare and NS1. Your prompt attention and support in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as it would enable me to proceed with integrating my domain with Netlify and fully utilize my website without further delay.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in resolving this critical issue.

This is my open urgent ticket on Cloudflare: #3170790

Using Cloudflare won’t create a zone on NS1.

You have used NS1 as the nameservers for your domain on and off in the past.

The issue has been created after me testing Cloudflare 10 days ago.

Yes i tested it once, long time ago and nothing wrong happen, but this time is stuck there… no matter what i have done in the past this has to get fixed from cloudflare, because the dashboard has sent me to the NS1 and they do not answer.

now the las DNS is because I have to forward my domain to a netlify domain so I do not loose trafic.

Work with the existing zone already on the dashboard at Netlify. If you do not have access to that in the Netlify dashboard you will need to contact their support for assistance. Cloudflare does not manage the Netlify system and can not make changes to it.

I already contacted them, NS1, and Cloudflare.

Netlify said to me that someone else has put a zone on NS1, and that happen when the same day I tested Cloudflare.

Cloudflare runs their own DNS infrastructure, they do not use NS1. If a zone was added to NS1 you or whoever in your org created the account will need to manage it there.

i have never added a dns on NS1 myself, is just me building a website. NS1 has never contacted me nor did I.

I only texted them a message to remove my domain’s zone.

After you used Cloudflare (from 28 Feb to 2 March), and before changing to the current Porkbun nameservers (on 5 March, also powered by Cloudflare), you used NS1’s nameservers for your domain. They have also been used previously for your domain.

After using Cloudflare, what did you do with your domain? You would have had to change the nameservers away from Cloudflare, so someone set them to NS1.

After removing from Cloudflare I added it back on Netlify, but they say the havent add nothing.

But I am being told I did, and I have never personally added the records on NS1, I do not even have an account with them.

Does this means they have to remove them from NS!? or who?

To change the nameservers to use Cloudflare, you would have changed them at your registrar. Did you do that?

To change the nameservers away from Cloudflare, you would have changed them at your registrar. Did you do that? What did you change them to?

To change the nameservers to Porkbun, you would need to have changed them at your registrar (Porkbun). Did you do that? What did you change them from?

Your registar is currently Porkbun, have you recently transferred the domain?

To change nameservers, someone is doing it at the registrar. Is it you? Someone else?

i dont want to use cloudflare, i am trying to use use Netlify DNS.

I changed them to Netlify after removing my domain from here, then i saw the error, thats why i am here, after that i change to porkbun to see if they work, they dont so i am frowarding my domain to a netlify domain.

a screnshot of porkbun

Nameservers from NS1 (nsone.net) are in your DNS history. You have used them, maybe not directly with an account, but you have set them as nameservers, likely as requested by whatever hosting you were using.

Whatever your problem is, it’s not due to Cloudflare. It’s between Netlify, NS1, maybe whoever you were hosting with before Netlify, (maybe Vercel as well, as they seem to use NS1 and are in your history).

There is no one on my team, is just me using my personal website.
I have been very long time without issue with the domain, it has been using Netlify DNS for very long time.

The problem has happen soon as I added my domain on cloduflare and wanted to deploy my website.
Then the days after I removed because it wasn’t going live, so I went back to Netlify and thats when I got the error on Netlifify’s dashboard.

Shame you didn’t ask here then, that’s something people here can help with.

We are getting there, you never mentioned you were using Netlify before.

So you were with Netlify before (using NS1 nameservers), and then you go back to Netlify (using NS1 nameservers), get an error that the zone already exists on NS1 - but assume it’s something to do with Cloudflare? Clearly you need to contact Netlify.

I already did, and they said someone else added it on NS1 and they can’t see it, that’s why i am here, because they sent me to the other one that I used, and i happen to test cludlflare.

nothing else.

Then you can only wait for NS1 to reply to you. As has already been said, Cloudflare does not use NS1, it has its own DNS infrastructure.

it’s been 10 days since I have submitted the domain…is that normal?

To NS1? I’ve no idea, this is a Cloudflare support forum, not NS1.
