Unstable Tunnel Connection - HomeAssistant

What is the issue you’re encountering

I have a HomeAssistant installation as a VM providing remote access through use of a Cloudflare tunnel. Currently this is managed locally by an Add-On running inside of HomeAssistant. After connecting through the domain (either through the HA app or webpage), it works perfectly for a short while (anywhere up to 1 minute), before essentially dropping the connection and getting stuck on a perpetual loading screen. This is only fixed by rebooting the app, or reloading the webpage. The same device has a CasaOS VM with its own tunnel, which works perfectly for all containers located on this VM (some of which are much more resource demanding like streaming, so doubt it’s a connection issue). However connecting HomeAssistant to this VM (in an attempt to fix the issue) leads back to the same problem. My goal is to maintain a reliable connection to my HomeAssistant installation, so that it runs smoothely without the need for excessive restarts, so would appreciate any support in correcting this.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

  • I have tried using both a native tunnel (HomeAssistant Add-On), and an “external” tunnel which is known to work for other containers (CasaOS VM located on the same device).
  • I have tried adjusting tunnel configurations to improve stability, specifically --edge-ip-version=4 and --retries=7 as suggested by the Add-On support.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
