Uncontrollable bot traffic causing high PHP executions

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

My hosting company is reporting a high number of PHP executions on usamotorcycling.com. These executions are caused by bot traffic that is not viewing the websites pages. My custom rules are not mitigating the traffic. Can you analyze the bot traffic and edit/add custom rules in order to stop the excessive PHP executions?

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

  1. Connected my domain to cloudflare nameservers
  2. Setup 5 custom rules to try and mitigate the excessive bot traffic
  3. meta-externalagent seems to be the bot causing the issue - so included this bot in my custom rules
  4. unfortunately this bot continues to access the website without my custom rules mitigating properly
  5. custom rules need to be enhanced and/or modified to stop this excessive bot traffic - failure to stop high PHP executions will cause hosting company to stop hosting my website

Was the site working with SSL prior to adding it to Cloudflare?

Yes

What is the current SSL/TLS setting?

Strict (SSL-Only Origin Pull)

Hello, @user4177!
In case you didn’t already, perhaps you could use Super Bot Fight Mode to block or managed challenge Definetely automated traffic. Deploying Cloudflare’ managed ruleset could be helpful as well.
In case your zone has a Pro plan - or higher -, you can also raise a ticket through your dashboard, so we can try to help you with more details. Thank you!
