Unclear on whether I should transfer domain to Cloudflare

Sorry if this should be obvious but DNS stuff just confuses me. I’ve been thinking about transferring my two .com domains from Google Domains to Cloudflare. I started using Cloudflare a few years ago just so I could get free SSL certificates, which has been great.

Partway through the transfer process I saw the note “You cannot change the nameservers of a domain registered with Cloudflare.” I didn’t finish the transfer because I don’t know if that’s going to be a problem for me. I tried to read about it but frankly I don’t get it. What I read makes it sound like it’s going to be a problem because the hosting for the 2 domains is not through Cloudflare… am I wrong?

What do you mean by that? Are you saying you do not have a certificate on your server? If so, your site is still insecure and has no encryption. Server certificates are pretty much free everywhere.

As for the domain, the message tells you that you won’t be able to change nameservers, that’s not related to hosting.
