Unable to resolve www.videolan.org

From my location [Cloudflare Data Center] YYZ dns server is not able to resolve for www.videolan.org.

The operation of is functional

Still does not resolve on from the Toronto area (in case the issue is local).
Every other DNS server has no problem with it.

How long does it take to fix?


Opened a ticket with Cloudflare.
After some back and forth with the support agent, the ticket was unexpectedly closed as “resolved” even though the problem still persists.
Back to Google I go.

I also opened a ticket with Cloudflare. They said the following:

“We have reproduced the behavior at the Toronto data center, and it is as you reported. The problem has been escalated to our Engineering Team for further review, after which we will update the Community Forum.”

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see if anything happens.


Users in the Toronto area that attempt to resolve videolan.org with any of our public resolvers will experience the problem mentioned above. Videolan.org uses proxad.net as their provider for authoritative DNS and it appears that traffic from our network to Proxad is being blocked, making the nameservers for videolan.org unreachable.

We’ve reached out to Proxad to fix the problem and we’ll work with videolan.org to do the same.

videolan.org seems to be reachable again for me. Can anyone else confirm that it works for them?

I hadn’t seen this thread when I created mine.

I appreciate the response from the cloudflare team, it’s nice to be in the loop. Hope you guys can get in touch with Proxad and resolve this issue.
