Unable to connect to website 24 hours after changing DNS and nameservers

Domain name: stephenallwright.com

After adding Cloudflare to my site via customer nameservers from my registrar (Namecheap) more than 24 hours ago I am still unable to reach the site. I’m getting a DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN error. When I load the site on my mobile on 5G it works fine, and others are able to view the site, but when I try to load it on wifi it doesn’t connect.

  • My domain name is registered with Namecheap
  • I am connecting my domain to Cloudflare using the custom nameservers
  • I changed the nameservers over 24 hours ago
  • I am using Ghost for my website
  • I am setting this domain up as a root domain, i.e. without www.

It sounds like you (or your ISP, etc.) just may personally have a local DNS cache that will clear over time.

It’s working fine here and looks good at https://www.whatsmydns.net/#NS/stephenallwright.com too.

Ok, that’s good to know.

In whatsmydns I do see some red crosses though, is that related to this error?

Unlikely - it’s common for a few of their locations to be down at any given point. I don’t see any discrepancies in the locations it’s resolving at though, so all should be good!
