I ran into a problem with one of my domains I want to use again. At first, I was not able renew it because every time I tried to manage the domain, I got a 404 error page. I found out that if a domain is not listed in your dashboard, you can’t manage it. So, I added my domain back to the dashboard, after I did that I was able to view manage page for a split second but before I could click anything I got redirected back.
Now, when I click on my site in the dashboard, it tells me to change my name servers to something different, not the ones I had before, which were called “Beth” and “Ethan”
I tried to remove the site again, but it was not allowing me to. So, I used Firefox to send an HTTP DELETE to the zone it was in . When I tried to add it back, the same problem happened – Cloudflare wanted me to change my name servers from “Beth” and “Ethan” to new ones.
I think the issue might be because I changed my email address in my Cloudflare account. I only have one account for the domain and managing it, but changing my email might have caused this problem. I read something similar here: Link to Cloudflare Community Post.
I’ve tried submitting a support request but I did not get an email confirmation or any updates regarding that so now I am posting about it here.
Has anyone else had this issue or knows how to fix it? Any advice would be great!
If you originally created your account using an Apple ID, changing your email address will create a new account. If you purchased your domain registration through Cloudflare registrar, this could put you in the wrong account to manage the domain.
Domains registered through Cloudflare registrar cannot be transferred to another Cloudflare account. You will need to log in to the correct account where the domain was purchased.
In the event that you deleted the domain from the account where it was purchased, you will need to open a registrar support request from the Cloudflare dashboard of the account that purchased the domain registration.
Thank you for the welcome, I really appreciate it!
To clarify, I didn’t use Apple’s SSO to set up my account, but I did change my email address after purchasing the domain directly from Cloudflare. Originally, the domain was set up with beth.ns.cloudflare.com and ethan.ns.cloudflare.com as the name servers. However, the dashboard is now prompting me to update to aragorn.ns.cloudflare.com and suzanne.ns.cloudflare.com.
I want to emphasize that I’m making these changes within the same Cloudflare account where I originally purchased the domain. I don’t have another Cloudflare account that could be causing this confusion.
That also applies to any requests to change nameservers assigned to a domain purchased via Cloudflare registrar. You can open a Registrar ticket here: https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/support
Once you have a ticket number, you can share it here so we can make sure it gets connected to this topic where you have already explained what happened.
I’m sorry for the confusion earlier. I double-checked my Cloudflare account this morning and, interestingly enough, I discovered that my original support request had already been addressed. Oddly, I didn’t get any notification about the response, and I only found out about it now by accident while I was trying to navigate to the Cloudflare community support pages.
The ticket ID for my initial support request is 3150878.
I really want to show my appreciation for your willingness to help me through this issue. Your advice was incredibly helpful, and even though it turns out my issue was already being addressed by Cloudflare Support, I wouldn’t have double-checked without your response. Thank you for taking the time to assist me.
