I have been trying to add my domain (.in) to the cloudfare, but it returns an error that “*.in is not a registered domain”
But the website is registered and the site is live.
I have looked at the relevant help article and none of the scenarios apply.
Kindly help. Thank you.
Without knowing the domain, it’s impossible to give any advice other than to look again at the help article.
If you’re using Cloudflare nameservers already on that domain, you’re not supposed to and need to remove them first.
I wasn’t sure whether I should share the domain or not. Sorry.
The domain is deadrat.in
It looks like your website has a CNAME on the apex (
deadrat.in) which violates the DNS spec - https://blog.cloudflare.com/introducing-cname-flattening-rfc-compliant-cnames-at-a-domains-root/ details it pretty well
;; QUESTION SECTION:
;deadrat.in. IN NS
;; ANSWER SECTION:
deadrat.in. 38400 IN CNAME tit.gitlab.io.
;; AUTHORITY SECTION:
gitlab.io. 900 IN SOA ns-1697.awsdns-20.co.uk. awsdns-hostmaster.amazon.com. 1 7200 900 1209600 86400
I can’t tell you for sure if that’s the issue but it very well could be - point your domain to just a regular A record somewhere as a test.
