Trouble connecting to 1.1.1.1 on BT in the UK

#1

Hello,

I have seen that it has been quite common that 1.1.1.1 cannot be accessed but 1.0.0.1 can. This is the same case for me. I am in the UK and have a BT internet connection.

Here are the traceroute outputs for 1.1.1.1 and 1.0.0.1:

With my little knowledge of traceroute, does the result for 1.1.1.1 mean that it is not even hitting the router or that it is a router problem? If so and the info would be useful, I am running a NETGEAR R7500 Nighthawk X4 as my router.

Congratulations. 1.1.1.1 has been hijacked by something on your local network. Even your router isn’t responding

Please provide the output of

Windows
ipconfig /all
route print

Linux based / Mac
ifconfig
or
ip a

and
route -n

I guess it is a firmware “bug”

That sounds just great

Just to let you know as well, I have tried accessing 1.1.1.1 on many machines on my local network including a Windows machine with no luck.

I am on a linux machine at the moment, the output of ifconfig is:

My shell cannot find a command called ‘route’. I can get that on a Windows machine if you want?

Thanks!

Thought I would get the info on Windows because I could (note that this is a different machine that the previous one).

Just realized that route is deprecated and I should use ip route instead, so here is the output of ip route on my linux machine:

default via 192.168.1.1 dev eno1 proto dhcp metric 100
192.168.1.0/24 dev eno1 proto kernel scope link src 192.168.1.19 metric 100
