Tricky set-up - who can help?

What is the name of the domain?

What is the issue you’re encountering

I want to ban certain countries from accessing my website. My domain is hosted by One.com who hosts only my emails and forwards all traffic to Squarespace which hosts my website. How do I properly set things up? I don’t want to make a DNS mess of things. I hope you can help. Best, Jay

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

Read as much as I could.

That sounds like a completely normal setup.

You can follow the normal steps to add your site:

Just make sure you have copied all the DNS records from One to Cloudflare before you actually change your nameservers. Also, maybe start by setting all DNS records to DNS-Only until you got everything working, and only then change the record for your website to proxied.

I don’t think you will find someone in the community who would be willing to do the setup remotely for you. In any case, I would not recommend giving strangers on the internet access to your domain settings, as this could actually be used for nefarious purposes.

But you can start the setup by entering your domain to Cloudflare - this will trigger an automatic scan where Cloudflare tries to import as many records as possible automatically from your old DNS provider.

After you have done this, you can share screenshots of your old DNS records on One as well as the imported records on Cloudflare, and we can certainly guide you on how to proceed if any records are missing.

You really can’t do anything wrong until this step, and it is perfectly safe to share your DNS records. DNS is like a phone book, so all the records are public data anyway.
Just don’t make any changes to your nameservers yet.

Just ignore that for now - that is the last step.

You can show a screenshot of the imported records on this page:
https://dash.cloudflare.com/?to=/:account/:zone/dns/records

You should have a similar overview on One, though you might have to take screenshots of the different categories of records (just skip the empty sections).

And this is the current status of my site vis-a-vis Cloudflare:

As per your link:

And this is from One:

It looks like you might have skipped the automatic import when adding your domain to Cloudflare.

So, for each of the 8 records from your previous screenshot, you click the blue Add Record button in Cloudflare. Type is the value on the left side (A, CNAME TXT). The Name is the upper value on the right side, and then the lower value on the right side is for the last field (value, target or whatever it is called).

However, there are some records missing in your screenshot, because there are no records for email in it.

These might become visible if you click on Office 365 in the upper right corner.

My recent posts that included the requested screen shots have bee flagged as commercial spam and hidden. I’m now unable to post in here. If you ever get this message, I just want to tank you for trying to help me out. Not sure how to proceed from here. I’m on a free account so Cloudflare support will not be inclined to deal with my queries, I suspect. Have a merry Christmas - and thanks again. XX Jay

Thanks, man - seems you did see some of the screen shots after all. Look, you’re a busy guy and really friendly but I won’t impose on you any further as I have to admit that I don’t know how to navigate this despite your very good instructions. I’m giving up. Thanks again - really appreciated your attempts to help me

I’ll check if I can remove the spam warning or if a moderator is needed to do that.

I can still see the messages though, so that’s not an immediate problem.

You click the blue Add Record button that you see on Cloudflare and fill it out like this, for each of the records that you see in your One screenshot:

Thanks, friend, but will have to leave it for now. I will try to see if I can get some remote screen access help on Upwork or another pay-as-you-go freelance help site. Your kind assistance has been much appreciated. XX Jay
