Transferred my domain to Cloudflare, now getting spam that has my personal info

Hi,

I transferred a domain to Cloudflare Registrar a couple of months ago. Now I’m getting spam for the domain. The scam isn’t anything new and I’m used to these mails, but this one is a little different.

The troubling part is that this one includes my personal information (name/address). I have always kept my whois information private so scammers should not have access to it. I have several other domains (not on Cloudflare), none of them have this problem.

What’s going on?

I have never seen or heard anything like this personally or on this Community. Could it be that the old registrar, while transferring made your info public and it was scraped?

That’s the troubling part for me as well. But then registrars messing info during transfer would be rare too. If it helps, I transferred in September, Namecheap to Cloudflare. I don’t think spammers would wait two months… of course, just spitballing here.

You wouldn’t guess the amount of trouble they cause… I have seen everything.

Depends if the name was scraped by them or added to some list that then got into the spammers’ hands.

Haha… I guess that’s reasonable. And I hope that’s the real cause as well. Spammers getting info by any other means would make things very problematic.

I get you, unfortunately there isn’t much we can understand from that… Maybe there was a leak on some other service, completely unrelated to DNS/hosting, etc.

Yup… thanks for your time and answers! I suppose I should mark this thread solved now.
