Transfer Shopify to Cloudflare

Hello,

I am trying to transfer my domain from Shopify to Cloudflare. My understanding is that Cloudflare wants me to transfer to the nameserver over to them first, and then proceed to the transfer.

However, it’s been almost two days and the nameservers are still pending.

What did I do wrong? Did I misunderstand how to transfer? Shopify has given me a transfer code and I don’t even know where to use that.

Any help would be appreciated.

A transfer code is to move the domain completely. That means not just moving Nameserver.
If this is a domain Cloudflare can host feel free to move it over to Cloudflare and make Cloudflare your registrar. The rest will be done automatically, so if you go with this approach you dont need to change Nameservers.

But keep in mind that this process maybe will cause a downtime.

How do I go about transferring, because from what I read, it wants me to switch the nameservers first.

Thats correct. The tutorial for this is here:

Simplified:

  1. change Nameservers
  2. initiate transfer

If you have trouble changing NameServers (what has to be done at your current Domain Hoster) you will have to contact your current Domain Hoster which is Shopify and ask them for help/support.

If you are able to share your domain people here can quickly do their checks and try to help you. But for this we need some more info.

I reached out to Shopify and they directed me towards Cloudflare. How long does it take for nameservers to switch over?

The domain is couniosandgane.com.

Shopify registered that domain through Tucows, and Tucows says the name servers are still set to googledomains.

So I changed the nameservers on Shopify two days ago. How long does it usually take until it switches over?

If you did it correctly, it can take up to 48 hours.

Any suggestions if I’m certain I did everything correctly but nothing happens after those 48 hours?

Should I reset everything and retry it? There aren’t a lot of options on Shopify’s side, so I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong.
