Domain transfer to Cloudflare

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Hi all,

I want to transfer my domain from Squarespace and I was recommended Cloudflare.

I started it, and can’t understand the cost. On squarspace there was a single rpice for the domain, while on Cloudflare I have 4 levels, starting with free. I a assuming the free tier will give me the same level as Squarespace?

Thank you for your help.

The subscription level is for Cloudflare’s proxy service and not at all related to a domain registration. You can choose the Free tier, but you will still have to pay the domain registration fee on top.

Sorry, I did not understand. Do I need the proxy server? I will have my website hosted in wordpress (instead of squarespace) and I want to transfer the domain, in this case, Cloudflare.

So, I can choose the free tier and then paid the domain register, which is how much?

You can see the transfer fee after your domain is active on Cloudflare and you start the transfer process.

Cloudflare does not publish registrar fees anywhere except during the actual registration/transfer process.

How do I know how much it is before deciding if I want Cloudflare or not?

And what about my previous question? Should I assume the free tier i enough?

Thank you.

At the moment, you have a website pending in your account. Once it’s active with cloudflare nameservers you an see the cost to transfer it to Cloudflare Registrar. Cost is always what cloudflare pays, Cloudflare Registrar is a no markup service. Some registrars will tell you it costs $1 to register a domain if you sign up for several years. Sounds great, except the second year is $50 or some price that is ultimately usurious,

I went here, https://domains.cloudflare.com/, swapped out one character of the domain name you have pending and the cost was as follows

I always think free is best, certainly to start. A lot depends upon the purpose of your site and need for support. If Community support is sufficient (it usually is) and your site is pretty basic, free may be the way to go, it is for most people that use cloudflare.
