Query on nameservers when transferring domain registrar to Cloudflare
What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?
My nameservers at my current registrar have been set to Cloudflare for 6 months, and my DNS is all set up and working in Cloudflare. My domain is active & working.
I have initiated a transfer of my domain from my current registrar to Cloudflare (as I want to consolidate them all in 1 place).
I just want to double-check that I don’t need to set nameservers in Cloudflare?
I.e. Once the transfer is complete, and Cloudflare are the registrar, they’ll automatically apply the correct nameservers so that the DNS (already setup in Cloudflare) continues to work?
What feature, service or problem is this related to?
Thanks @sjr - so just to confirm, this shouldn’t incur any downtime for the domain? As both the current registrar (pre-migration) and Cloudflare (new registrar) will return the same nameservers (i.e. pointing at Cloudflare for the DNS management)?
It’ll just be the registrar details on a WHOIS that changes?
The nameservers for your domain are given from the TLD’s nameservers so the registrar move only changes who can set them - there’s no change in who returns your domain’s nameservers. There won’t be any downtime.
