Transfer a domain between two Cloudflare accounts

What is the name of the domain?

What is the error number?

9221

What is the error message?

Content for NS record is invalid. NS records at the apex must not overwrite assigned nameservers. (Code: 9221)

What is the issue you’re encountering

I am transferring a domain between to Cloudflare accounts. I am instructed to change the nameserver inorder to com;lete the transfer. But I am unable to chane the nameserver.

What steps have you taken to resolve the issue?

I have read Cloudflare documentation, read searched articles and watched Youtube videos, but none of it makes sense. I am a novice at this sort of thing and the Cloudflare support documents get way too deep into technical jargon which is beyond my skill set. I have also attempted to view Youtube videos but none of them show how to change the nameserver in Cloudflare.

What are the steps to reproduce the issue?

Update nameserver in the DNS.

The short version is, Cloudflare does not support transferring a domain between two accounts.

You need to first transfer a domain to a different registrar, and then you can transfer it again to the new Cloudflare account after 60 days.

Why doesn’t Cloudflare say that in their documentation? This is crazy. Thank you for your prompt reply.

I take it back, apparently this is now available:

In the “target” account (the Cloudflare account where the domain will reside after the transfer) it instructs me to update the nameservers in the “source” account (the Cloudflare account where the domain currently resides) in order to complete the transfer. However, the source account will not allow me to update the nameservers. I am a novice at this sort of thing and the Cloudflare support documents get far too deep into technical jargon beyond my skill set. How can I complete the transfer under these conditions?

Did you read the guide I linked in my previous post?
