Timeouts when DNS record is Proxied

What is the name of the domain?

n/a

What is the issue you’re encountering

I have an “A” record that points to my home IP address at “ddns.example.com”. I then have a “CNAME” record pointing to that “A” record at “test.example.com”. When I have it on “DNS only” it loads instantly but when I change it to “Proxied” it take a minimum of 40 seconds to load or it will just time out. Why this HUGE difference between settings. as a side note this host is running as an LXC in Proxmox running Zoraxy as a reverse proxy. i have also tried Nginx Proxy Manager and NPMPlus and i get the same issue with all of them so I know its not that.

What feature, service or problem is this related to?

I don’t know

Where are you seeing these problems?

  1. What ISP / provider, preferably their AS number?
The AS number can be found here:
  1. What country (and preferably state/region)?

Can you share a real DNS record of yours?

As you’re mentioning that the problem appears to be specific to when you have it set to Proxied (:orange:), one of those Proxied (:orange:) DNS records will be fine.

I actually fixed it!

It had nothing to do with Cloudflare and was actually because of my router.
I have an Asus RT-AX88U Pro router with the Merlin firmware on it and the issue was because of the DoS Protection under the firewall settings.

Disabling that fixed the issue.
