Ticket Escalation

Hello,

I have a ticket that needs escalation #2867463 - Initial information was provided however I have further questions in order to get a working example.

Can someone please lead me in the correct direction for escalation?

Thanks,

Welcome to the Cloudflare Community. :logodrop:

You are almost always better off to ask questions here in the Community. Not all tickets will meet the requirements for escalating, and even when they do, it is often possible to find an answer in the Community before an escalated request is reviewed.

Are you willing to share the nature of the request with the Community?

Hello,

Absolutely, the request is in regards to reverse zones smaller than /24 and /16.

I am seeing examples in the documentation with no reference to subnet size /26 for example.

In the ticket I was instructed that i could use RFC4183 syntax with a hyphen.

For example 11.22.33.192/26 would be created as a site in cloudflare as 26-192.33.22.11.in-addr.arpa.

Upon creating and testing the zone with dig directed to ‘future’ nameservers I was getting no response back. Typically before we cutover dns zones we can pretest records by querying the cloudflare servers directly

Thanks,

Thanks for sharing the details. My understanding of Cloudflare PTR zone hosting is that the IP allocation needs to be direct from the RIR. If a SWIP allocation is eligible to host a reverse zone on Cloudflare, I am unaware of it. I’m happy to be wrong about that if that is the case.

I wouldn’t expect Cloudflare to respond to authoritative queries for a zone that had not been activated. Activation obviously hinges on delegation in the parent zone.

If we don’t see anyone reply to confirm or deny my understanding, I’ll make sure we get the additional information required.

I have been able to query non-reverse zones ahead of cutover, just to be sure that I was actually querying cloudflare I added new records and got the correct response record

Someone else corroborated that with me, too. I don’t know how that would work on a domain that was moving between two Cloudflare accounts, but we needn’t dwell on that since it does not apply here. I have requested escalation on your ticket.
