Hi,
I have several domains that all point to Cloudflare. The only thing I changed was enabling the Universal SSL. I did this because I have the Advanced Certificate, so I am using the Universal SSL as a backup. I believe this might be in relation to the emails I have been getting since it happened shortly after enabling the Universal Email. I have been getting emails once a month for two months from Cloudflare stating,
The Domain Control Validation (DCV) has failed for the certificate with the ID xyz belonging to Zone ID xyz. The DCV method is currently set to txt.
Since the DCV method is set to TXT, please be sure to update your zone’s nameservers at the registrar to the nameservers assigned to your zone in the Cloudflare Dashboard, or manually add a DNS TXT record to your authoritative DNS provider. For more help with changing nameservers, refer to Change your nameservers (Full setup) · Cloudflare DNS docs.
I don’t know how to check the certificate ID to find out which one it is.
However, I get these emails when my other domain is being issued a certificate. I have checked out all of the links provided by Cloudflare in that email and my setup has no red flags.
I have also checked out this post - Getting lots of emails saying "Domain Control Validation (DCV) has failed".
I am unsure if I should ignore it or if I should add the DNS records Cloudflare recommends adding.
There are two TXT records Cloudflare recommends adding. I still don’t understand why I would need to add this or why I am getting the error in the first place.
Thanks!
