Temporarily point cloudflare default nameservers to my host to allow site setup

I’ve recently registered a new domain name through Cloudflare. The NS records are set to a default settings. But I see no way to change them temporarily.

My hosting provider needs me to point the nameservers to their system so I can setup the site. This is a temporary measure, they will be changed back to Cloudflare shortly after the site becomes active. In a normal domain registrar, I could simply change my NS records, wait a bit of time. Get the site running. Then point them to clourdlare name servers. And configure Cloudflare.

I need to have a way to temporarily change the nameservers. Is this possible. If so, how?

If the domain is registered through Cloudflare, you currently cannot change nameservers and must use the Cloudflare-assigned nameservers.

This is clearly stated in the Registrar ToS:

7.2 nameservers

Registrant agrees to use Cloudflare’s nameservers. REGISTRANT ACKNOWLEDGES AND AGREES THAT IT MAY NOT CHANGE THE NAMESERVERS ON THE REGISTRAR SERVICES, AND THAT IT MUST TRANSFER TO A THIRD PARTY REGISTRAR IF IT WISHES TO CHANGE NAMESERVERS.

Who reads T&C’s. The ability to manage nameservers is an integral part of registering a domain. This is not a reasonable term. So I’ll be expecting to transfer to another party. That’s complete nonsense.

How do I get the transfer authorisation code to transfer my domain please.

I’ve read the docs. Followed the instructions. But it requires me to wiat 60 days before I can transfer. Thats not a reasonable request. I want my domain unlocked or you can allow me to change nameservers. I dont care which, but your not locking my domain up for 60 days. I have invested money in people developing a site and that site needs to be up and running by the end of the coming week. I though I was doing a good thing by using Cloudflare and supporting you. NEVER again. NEVER. This is complete and utter nonsense. Unlock my domain or give me the ability to manage my name servers or find another solution that will allow me to progress with the site. You have no right to block me like this. None what so ever.

The 60 day wait period for transfers is a policy enforced by ICANN and applies to all registrars.

As for changing nameservers, this is unfortunately not possible at this time. You’re welcome to contact Cloudflare Support, but I doubt they’ll be able to do anything for you in this case.
