Since signing up for Cloudflare, my email has gotten suspicious and fake looking invoices from multiple “consultancy” emails. I unchecked all solicitation checkboxes I could find but cloudflare seems to still have given my email out to who knows who. I know it is cloudflare because I created this email just for this site. Anyone else have this less than desirable experience and know if I missed any options when signing up to prevent this in the future.
I use adhoc email routing and sign up for dozens of accounts a week on cloudflare and never receive spam email. Moreover, cloudflare does not share lists, sell names, or sell your data as a product (I’m looking at you ISPs. That’s not our business model at all.
We have seem similar reports like this in the past. Those have usually been customers that purchase a domain name and/or hosting services and the hosting provider shares/sells the name. Some others were relate to purchasing .us
TLD domains where contact information cannot be protected and can be found with whois.
Bottom line, Cloudflare did not sell nor share your information, never have, never will.
Hello Cloonan,
I really appreciate the quick reply to this. This actually makes a lot of sense since I did purchase a .us TD from you guys. I only used the email for the cloudflare service so was really surprised when it happened, but it stands to reason someone out their scraped the email from the whois.
Thanks again!
