Sub domains and port

cpanel

#1

Hello

I have created two subdomains that point to the public IP address, for redirections, one of them works with port 80, the second does not work with the same port, what to do?

This is likely an issue with the webserver software that you’re running. Typically the webserver will evaluate the host header for the request and route it to the appropriate virtual server / webserver instance. What happens when you visit the one which does not work?

Hi,

Thanks you for your answer, the first redirection of type A toto.dupond.com
to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (public adress) in cloudflare, use port 80 in my
network. I can acces to web site or web application.

The second redirection of type A tata.dupond.com to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx (same
public adress) I can’t to access to an other web site ou web application.

But when in my network I use port 80 for the second redirection it’s ok.

Can I put in cloudflare another port that 80 for one of redirections.

Thanks to answer to me

That domain isn’t on Cloudflare, so I don’t know what to say. Both host names you gave redirect to generic placeholder pages. This issue sounds like a webserver configuration issue regardless. There’s no limitation in Cloudflare which would prevent running multiple websites on the same server.

Hi,

Yes, this domains aren’t in cloudflare, it was just examples, my problem is
my firewall d’ont accept many entries on Ports 80.

it’s why the first redirection of type A is ok not in port 80 and the
second redirection of type A also is’nt ok.

My question is it possible to put the port 81 for HTTP in the second
redirection in cloudflare as parameters.

Thanks you for your answer

Best regards

It sounds like you have a firewall set to map port 80 traffic inbound (through a NAT?) from the public IP address to an internal host. Most simple firewalls work on a simple port==destination style mapping and it sounds like that is what you have and that you’re trying to map inbound traffic on the same port to two separate machines.

Cloudflare doesn’t provide port remapping as a service. So traffic inbound on port a is routed to the destination server on the same port. You could however use Cloudflare to force traffic for one of these servers to be sent over SSL to the origin server and not support SSL for the other and that would allow you to use two standard ports (80 & 443) to perform different mappings your firewall could support.

The other option it to place an reverse proxy inside your network (behind the firewall) which looks at the host headers of these requests and routes them to the correct server. NGINX is one example of a proxy which could perform such a function. You would then map your firewall to the proxy and it would direct the requests inside your network to the appropriate server.

Hi, Thanks, I want to try this solution

“You could however use Cloudflare to force traffic for one of these servers
to be sent over SSL to the origin server and not support SSL for the other
and that would allow you to use two standard ports (80 & 443) to perform
different mappings your firewall could support.”

How to use port 443 with the second redirection, How to configure the
second redirection to use port 443

Thanks for your answer.
