After encoding, the video sound plays louder (even in Stream’s own dash), plus low frequencies are boosted and sometimes overloaded. How to disable this effect so the encoded video sound would stays true to my sound after encoding?
What are the steps to reproduce the issue?
Upload any mp4 video to Stream, get weird compression, and sometimes distortion.
Is there a setting to avoid that? (original videos’ audio is fine as played locally from PC, gets distorted after Stream processing.)
Hello, catch22!
Are this issue happening frequently? Is this happening with the same video or with different ones as well? Have you tried generating a HAR file when uploading a video to see whether you can identify any errors during this process?
Cloudflare seems to force automatic audio compression / normalization on all the videos. The way it’s done is not good: on some videos it leads to audio artifacts and music distortion. Such problems are not present in the originals, but appear in the Cloudflare Stream-processed videos every time.
Makes it impossible to seriously use Cloudflare streaming platform for anything that requires undistorted sound, or oroginal dynamic range.
Suggestion: remove your current audio processing. Or let users mark the box “use unprocessed original sound” during upload.
Suggestion #2: batch-edit video properties, such as links and titles. I couldn’t find the way to do it en-masse in the current dashboard, only individually.
