Stream billed by seconds or minutes?

In our use case for Cloudflare Stream we would have several short videos for many users. Since Cloudflare Stream is billed “by minute” we are wondering if the precision is down to seconds or just to minutes. E.g. if a video is only 15 seconds long, will only 15 seconds get billed or the whole minute?

I guess that would make a huge difference in our bill.

Well, you’ll have to pay for each 1.000 Minutes.

15 sec -> you will be billed for 1000 minutes
2001 minutes -> 3000 minutes to pay.

Plus $5 per 1000 minutes of stored video.

I read the billing page, but it didn’t specify if individual views round up to the nearest minute.

You’re right. But according to that article I’d expect they don’t.
That’s my understanding. :thinking:

Let’s say, you’ve got a 15 seconds long video which get’s served 100.000 times.

If it gets billed by seconds that would mean: 100000 * 15s / 60s / 1000 * $1 = $25
If it gets billed by minutes that would mean: 100000 * 1m / 1000 * $1 = $100

Quite the difference if my thinking isn’t flawed.

Since the documentation isn’t clear, I suggest you open a ticket. Post the Ticket # here and then let us know what they say. Thanks!
